Heeli Dog Training Terms & Conditions
1. Initial Consultation
-
Clients book an initial consultation online, during which an instructor visits the client’s home to evaluate their dog(s).
-
During this session, the instructor will assess the dog(s), discuss the client’s goals, and recommend a suitable training program.
-
If the client enrolls in a program during the initial session, the $99 consultation fee is waived.
-
If the client chooses not to enroll, the $99 consultation fee is due at the conclusion of the session. Enrollment is not mandatory.
2. Program Structure
-
Heeli offers in-home instruction sessions based on the number of dogs enrolled:
-
One dog: 1 weekly 50-minute session.
-
Two dogs: 1 weekly 80-minute session.
-
Three dogs: 1 weekly 50-minute session and 1 weekly 80-minute session.
-
Four dogs: 2 weekly 80-minute sessions.
-
Five or more dogs: A custom program schedule will be created.
-
-
All training goals should be clearly articulated during the initial consultation to ensure the best program recommendations.
3. Behavior Issues
-
For dogs with a history of fear, anxiety, aggression, reactivity, or other behavioral concerns, clients are required to enroll in both the Fundamentals Program and the Behavior Solutions Program.
-
Heeli will address minor new issues that arise during training. However, substantial behavior or training issues not disclosed or discussed during the initial consultation will not be covered in the agreed training program.
4. Training Goals Guarantee
-
If the agreed-upon training goals are not achieved by the end of the program, Heeli will provide up to three additional sessions at no cost to the client.
5. Scheduling and Arrival
-
Appointments are scheduled for 50 minutes.
-
Please allow a 10-minute arrival window to account for traffic or travel delays.
-
If the instructor arrives more than 10 minutes past the scheduled start time, Heeli will provide one additional session at no charge to the client.
-
Arrival Notification: Instructors will text or call upon arrival instead of ringing the doorbell or knocking, to avoid aggravating dogs. Clients should inform the instructor of their preferred method of notification during the initial consultation.
-
Clients should advise instructors on parking arrangements and confirm meeting at the front door.
6. Dog Handling Requirements
-
Dogs must be kept on leash at all times during instruction, unless the instructor explicitly grants off-leash permission via text or email.
-
At the start of all sessions, including the initial consultation, dogs should be secured in another room or outside behind a door or other barrier until the instructor has entered the home. Only then should the dog be brought into the instruction area on leash.
-
During instruction, only one dog should be in the instruction space at a time, unless there is one adult per dog available to hold each dog on leash.
7. Client Practice and Participation
-
Dogs will not learn, and behavior will not change, without consistent client participation.
-
Clients must actively practice exercises and follow instructions provided during the training sessions.
-
Clients agree to commit the necessary time to practice between sessions to reinforce the training concepts and achieve desired results. Lack of practice may delay or prevent success in reaching training goals.
8. Cancellation and Rescheduling
-
Clients may cancel or reschedule appointments up to 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time without penalty.
-
Changes made with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a $25 cancellation fee.
9. Communication
-
While actively enrolled, clients may contact their instructor directly via text or email for questions or concerns:
-
Texts received before 4:00 PM will be returned the same day.
-
Texts received after 4:00 PM and emails will be responded to by the next business day.
-
-
For urgent issues, clients may contact Heeli directly at the main number.
10. Payment
-
Full payment for the program is due prior to the start of the first session.
-
Programs are non-refundable, except in cases where Heeli is unable to provide an instructor to complete the program.
-
Heeli strives to assign the same instructor for the duration of the program. However, Heeli reserves the right to substitute instructors with those of equal or greater experience at no additional cost to the client.
11. Commitment to Positive Training Principles
-
Clients agree to abide by positive reinforcement training methods and commit to treating their dogs humanely and responsibly at all times.
-
Clients further agree not to use aversive or abusive training methods, including but not limited to physical punishment, choke chains, prong collars, shock collars, or intimidation tactics, during or outside of training sessions.
-
Heeli employees are committed to positive training principles and will not engage in aversive or abusive training methods under any circumstances.
12. Safety Policy
-
Clients must ensure that the training environment is safe for both the dog(s) and the instructor. This includes:
-
Removing hazards such as sharp objects or toxic substances from the training area.
-
Keeping aggressive or reactive dogs securely leashed and under control at all times until the instructor advises otherwise.
-
-
Heeli reserves the right to discontinue a session if safety concerns are present and not resolved.
13. Vaccination and Health Requirements
-
All dogs participating in training must be up-to-date on vaccinations as recommended by their veterinarian, including but not limited to rabies, distemper, and parvovirus.
-
Dogs with known illnesses or contagious conditions must not participate in training until cleared by a veterinarian.
-
Clients must notify Heeli of any health issues affecting their dog(s) prior to the start of the program.
14. Aggression Policy
-
If a dog displays aggressive behavior that poses a danger to people, other dogs, or the instructor, Heeli reserves the right to suspend or terminate the program. In such cases, the instructor will recommend appropriate behavior management or rehabilitation resources.
15. Media and Photography Release
-
Heeli may take photos or videos during training sessions for educational, promotional, or marketing purposes.
-
By enrolling, clients agree to allow the use of these photos or videos, provided no personal identifying information is shared. Clients who wish to opt out of this must notify Heeli in writing prior to the start of training.
16. Health and Safety Protocols
-
Clients must inform Heeli in advance if anyone in their household is ill, experiencing symptoms of illness (e.g., fever, cough, sore throat), or has been exposed to a contagious illness within the past 48 hours. Sessions may be rescheduled without penalty.
-
Heeli reserves the right to require masks during sessions, depending on public health guidelines, local mandates, or at the instructor’s discretion.
-
Instructors will follow health and safety measures, including hand hygiene and mask use when requested or deemed necessary.
-
Heeli reserves the right to reschedule a session if health and safety concerns are present.
17. Confidentiality
-
Any proprietary training methods, techniques, or materials provided by Heeli during the program are for the client’s use only and may not be shared, reproduced, or distributed without written permission.
18. Force Majeure
-
Heeli is not liable for delays or cancellations due to events beyond its control, such as extreme weather, natural disasters, or other unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, sessions will be rescheduled at no additional cost to the client.
