Behavior Solutions

Anxiety, Fear, Aggression, Reactivity & More

Some dogs need more than foundational training to succeed in everyday life. The Behavior Solutions Program is designed for dogs experiencing challenges such as anxiety, fear, aggression, or reactivity and provides a structured, individualized approach to meaningful behavior change.

While the Fundamentals Program focuses on teaching clear, reliable skills, the Behavior Solutions Program addresses the factors contributing to challenging behavior and helps your dog develop more successful responses in real-world situations.

In the Behavior Solutions Program, your instructor will work with you to identify behavior goals and develop a plan tailored to your dog and your household. Behavior work may include environmental management, owner education, skill development, desensitization and counterconditioning, along with Heeli's specialized CARE for Canine Anxiety™ and CALM for Canine Aggression & Reactivity™ techniques, as appropriate for your dog's individual needs.

CARE for Canine Anxiety

A specialized approach for anxiety and fearful behavior, CARE for Canine Anxiety™ is a specialized set of techniques used within the Behavior Solutions Program to help dogs experiencing anxiety or fear.

Depending on your dog's needs, your instructor may incorporate CARE to help you:

  • Reduce stress and fear

  • Identify and manage anxiety triggers

  • Gradually desensitize your dog to challenging situations

  • Build confidence and emotional resilience

  • Develop practical strategies for supporting your dog at home and in the community

CALM for Canine Aggression & Reactivity

A specialized approach for aggression and reactivity

CALM for Canine Aggression & Reactivity™ is a set of techniques used within the Behavior Solutions Program to address aggressive and reactive behavior.

Depending on your dog's needs, your instructor may incorporate CALM to help you:

  • Reduce aggressive and reactive responses

  • Identify and manage triggers

  • Gradually change your dog's response to challenging situations

  • Develop effective management and handling strategies

  • Build safer, more reliable behavior in real-world situations

Environmental Management & Owner Education

Behavior change starts with understanding what influences your dog's behavior. Effective behavior modification goes beyond working with the dog during training sessions. Your instructor will help you understand your dog's behavior and learn how the environment, routines, interactions, and your own responses can influence it.

Together, you'll develop practical management strategies that reduce opportunities for unwanted behavior while creating conditions that support learning and progress. You'll also learn how to apply your dog's training consistently in everyday situations.

What About Everyday Behavior Challenges and Bad Habits?

Not every unwanted behavior requires a behavior modification program. Common challenges such as leash pulling, jumping up, counter-surfing, or difficulty waiting at doors are often best addressed through the Fundamentals Program, which provides the skills and structure needed to guide your dog toward better choices.

If a behavior is driven by anxiety, fear, aggression, or reactivity—or is interfering significantly with your dog's ability to function comfortably in everyday life—your instructor can determine whether the Behavior Solutions Program is appropriate.
